Mount Juliet, TN: Pool Tables
When you’re in the market to buy a pool table, it’s an exciting purchase. But it’s also important to not get too caught up in the excitement of the purchase to where you neglect the important considerations of such a purchase. Luckily, we here at Nashville Billiard & Patio are billiard experts and are here to guide you step-by-step in your pool table selection process.
Now, there is a process to selecting the perfect pool table for your home, but it’s not a difficult process by any means. It’s more so a few important considerations that will help you narrow down your options.
You, of course, have to consider the style of the pool table because you want it to look nice in your home, but then again, what good will an exquisite pool table do in your home when it’s too big for the room? That reason alone is why purchasing a pool table is more than making your decision based on the appearance of the table.
So when you’re in the market to buy your pool table, here are a few of the top considerations to think about:
Size of Pool Table: Before you make a final decision on a pool table, you want to first measure the outer dimensions of the room you’re placing the pool table in. Once you’ve done that, you’ll then want to choose from the three regulations sizes of 7, 8, and 9 feet. We recommend 5ft of clearance around the table so that there’s ample room around the table for your cue stick to clear walls and posts.
Slate: According to the Billiard Congress of America, pool table purchases must have a 3-piece 1 inch thick matched frame slate; no substitutions are allowed. Slate is not only the only pool table surface that won’t warp but it also weighs 600lbs, so it needs a sturdy frame that will keep it level and be able to withstand the weight of the slate.
Construction of the Table: You want to only buy pool tables that are constructed of true solid hardwoods like maple, oak, and cherry. The table can have a stain that allows the true beauty of the wood to shine through, but if your only option of tables are ones that have a painted-on finish, then that table isn’t solid hardwood.
The other two considerations in shopping for the perfect pool table is style and cost, and that’s simply a matter of preference. The three listed above are the major considerations you want to get right the first time, so to speak. But we are the billiard experts, so we’re here to be your guide throughout your entire process.
